Sources & method

Make the evidence
easy to inspect.

The standard for a Dispatch is simple: a reader should be able to tell what happened, who says so, and where our interpretation begins.

Editorial practice

Short does not mean context-free.

Daily Dispatches focus on one development in five to eight short paragraphs. Longer analysis should be labeled separately. Every Dispatch links to its primary source and distinguishes the source’s publication date from our own.

Claims from a lab, vendor or evaluator are attributed. We preserve conditions that materially affect interpretation: the task, environment, available access, safeguards and scope of the evaluation.

We do not turn a controlled experiment into a claim about deployment frequency, or a completed task into proof of general reliability. Interpretation is identified through the questions and conclusions we draw from the reported facts.

Observation method

Four dimensions, kept distinct.

DimensionQuestionExamples
BehaviorWhat actions occurred?Access, communication, modification, delegation
ContextUnder what instructions and conditions?Tools, permissions, model version, environment
OutcomeWhat happened as a result?Completion, external effect, recovery, unknown
EvidenceWhat supports the account?Source report, trace, independent reproduction

This is a working structure, not a validated universal taxonomy. A record may describe several behaviors. An observed action does not, by itself, establish intent, deception or a legal conclusion.

Unknown fields remain unknown. Records should preserve disagreements and revisions rather than silently replace a prior account.

Corrections & disclosure

A record should improve.

Send a correction with the passage, supporting evidence and proposed change to contact@agentobservatory.dev. Material corrections should be dated on the affected page.

A cited organization is a source, not an endorser. Any commissioned evaluation, financial relationship or access restriction that materially affects future published work should be disclosed alongside that work.
